In 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track in just 6 months. In 2017, the single Despacito which was a mix of reggaeton and pop was not only a way to bring new interest to reggaeton but also sparked interest in Latin music. In Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish language, while the year 2016 featured four. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017, 19 songs mainly made in Spanish were in into the Top 100. This number rose to 41 in 2020. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito was released in the year. Soon after, famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), and Madonna collaborated with Maluma to create Medellin. Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. But a newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the development and growth of reggaeton. He used elements from other genres and electronic music.
